Reserves get 1-1 draw away
28th January 2008
A good result at Gaerwen but looking at the stats we probably deserved more.
The return fixture saw Cefni play some good football on a very difficult surface.
On the whole we shaded the first half and were unlucky to go in at the break a goal down "Waggsi" scoring after 42 minutes.
In the second half with slight assistance from the wind Cefni played much the better football. On 57 minutes Lee Jones struck a well placed free kick from 25 yards which sailed into the left corner. 1-1. Following on from this Llangefni took hold of the game and created numerous excellent goal scoring opportunities only to be denied by a combination of good goalkeeping and some wayward finishing. Final score 1-1.
Prior to kick off we would have accepted a point, however in reality we should have taken all 3. A great team performance showing determination and good movement. But on a sour note keeper Iain Ridgway fractured his arm during the match. This may keep Iain out for the remainder of the season and we all wish him a speedy recovery
3-2 loss to Newtown
26th January 2008

Bad result for us today leaves us still bottom and vulnerable.
We started brightly going a goal up from Kev Lloyd after 5 minutes and held on almost to half time when they equalised after some scrappy defending. Jacko had made several good saves, but was beaten on the near post. We had other chances but did not put them away.
2nd half early Kev rounded the keeper and with an empty net contrived to hit the post- apologies to Kev having seen it on Clwb Pel Droed, his shot hit an incoming defender and was deflected onto the post. Shortly after they went down the other end and scored their 2nd and then 3rd from outside the box with a shot that bounced and deceived Jacko. Sadler came on and quickly made his mark with a well taken rebound shot, but despite all we ran out as losers 3-2.
Very narrow formation let them change tactics and get men wide where they attacked at will down the flanks, putting in numerous high crosses. Some of our players are patently unfit and it showed as Newtown controlled the midfield with our fitter players carrying the others. Good to see Hoggy back in defence where he did well, but not so good to see Chris Evans having a good game for them and involved in 2 goals.
