Reserves win 6-1 v Pentraeth

5th August 2008

Llangefni entertained a Pentraeth side who had beaten Beaumaris and Holyhead Hotspurs in their previous pre season games.   Cefni began the game well playing some good football which in turn allowed us to retain possession that was used wisely. Steve Jones netted the first two, Sion Taylor the third and the fourth came from a penalty which was put away by Iwan.   Half time score 4-0.   The second half began as the first half ended with Cefni in control. Tom Wyn got on the score sheet twice, one an excellent finish from a tight angle, the other a rather fortunate ricochet.    On the whole a pleasing performance that gave the lads another opportunity to get their match fitness.     The next game will be against a New Brighton second side on Saturday 9th August.

Reserves games update

31st July 2008

We came into this game on the back of some good results and were quickly a goal up with Tom Wyn netting from a great cross by Deiniol. The early goal and a game versus a lower league side saw the workrate drop, and with the wet conditions making the ball a little more difficult to control this allowed our opponents to get back into the game. A poor free kick given away in a dangerous area allowed Llandegfan to equalise.   1-1 at the break.   The second half saw the reserves taking a hold of the game with some great movement and good football. Tom Wyn pounced on a loose ball in the 18 yard area to make it 2-1. Ioan Hughes showed a quickness of mind and great agility as he got on the score-sheet with 2 goals. The other two came from Steve and Iwan Jones, both well worked goals from good passing movements.   Our next game is versus Pentraeth on Monday 4th August. This promises to be a stiffer test as Pentraeth have already beaten two Gwynedd League teams in their pre season warm up so far.
