Game and New signings

8th August 2008

Tomorrow's pre season game against New Brighton has been cancelled and new fixture is being arranged for next week.

News of two more signings are that Sion Parry has returned to the club after a short spell at Glantraeth and pre season with Porthmadog, part of our WPL promotion squad Sion's return is very welcome and we know exactly what we get with him. Richard Hyam, a strong midfielder, has also joined from the University of Bangor and we are pleased he has signed despite strong interest from other local clubs.

2-0 away to Rhyl

6th August 2008

Yes we lost but this was a great performance by a very new team and showed that we can still hold our own against what looks like a top 3 WPL side.

Rhyl played the majority of their first team squad on a perfect playing surface that suited the fast passing game of both sides and for an hour there was nothing in it.  2 or 3 good saves at both ends and some near misses for both teams. A bit of gamesmanship tugging by Jiws sent the ball to Carl Owen, who looks a different player this season, to place a low shot past the excellent Kenny Jones deputising for the work committed Whitfield and following a few changes another bit of gamesmanship with an ill disguised push from Jiws let him in for a close header - poor refereeing - but it shows his experience at an even higher level, same with Kelly and Garside, but we will learn.

Our defence looks more of a unit with Orme and Mitchell gaining understanding and Chris Williams having another good game. Our midfield matched them for most of the game with Austin and Dylan Owen working well together and I must say the great pitch did help the ball players out there. Kev Lloyd worked his socks off up front ably assisted with Kev Roberts and on the ball Darren Bach was unplayable, with great contributions from all other team members.

A very good game to watch and an excellent team performance which showed the tremendous steps made on the training ground by the managers abd coaches. This puts us all in good heart for the coming season.
