Good night Friday

I went along to the Santes Dwynwen gig on Friday, good turnout for an enjoyable night. Local band Chwarter Call really got the place rocking and showed what a great band they are, followed by headliners Brigyn with the special brand of Welsh music including the show stopping Hallelujah.

More events planned with next Saturday's Wil Tan gig already well supported.

Thanks to all the organisers for this progressive step in connecting with the community.

Forum

22nd January 2009

The website forum, as posted last night, has been closed. This was due to the level of postings aimed at a personal level which was proving disruptive to the smooth running of the teams and often counter productive to management aims, particularly in recruitment and retention of players.

Whilst I realise that this is a small minority spoiling it for majority, there has been a hard core of people, possibly from outside the club, that has been hell bent on undermining the club.

I will be looking into a Members Area that requires proper registration, approval and management for the future, when in place this will be of benefit to true supporters and stop the hiding behind the anonimity of the old forum.

I did receive the protestations against this action and apologise to the genuine people out there who will miss this point for interaction.

Llandudno Match Report

Llandudno Match Report

Despite my after match ravings about the conditions, there was still a match to report on.

With the wind gusting across and up the field (towards the club house), we kicked off with the wind. The starting lineup included Mike Edwards and Jon Peris-Jones and we started brightly with a high line and trying to get the ball down and keep it in play. The midfield got it out wide and linked up with Darren and Melv but inevitably the ball often ran away and out of play. Darren tried a couple of long range efforts that their keeper dealt with and we also had two or three free kicks which also produced some goal mouth action. In the run up to half time we won a number of corners with our bigger guys coming up from the back to put pressure on the keeper, who did well to get his hands to them, usually with the ball then flying out for a throw in. Whitfield had only two corners to deal with both came to nothing and it was 0-0 at half time.

The second half was uphill against the wind and now the heavy rain, but we still endeavoured to get it down on the ground, Ows Gwynedd replaced Mike and Sion Parry the injured Rich Higham mid half. Llandudno went for the expected long ball over our defence with much the same results as we had, but they did win a succession of corners towards the end, but nothing to cause much concern, other than a free kick for what looked like a dive on the edge of the box; again it deflected off the wall for a corner.

A very difficult game but we looked like the only team likely to score, and a draw that our lads were of course disappointed with. However a point away from home against a team that will definitely take points from the other big teams is not too bad and keeps in the mix.
