New Players
10th June 2009

The new management team have reacted swiftly to their new tasks and are pleased to announce that they have secured the services of Marc Evans for the coming season. 'Loggs' has been a prime target for many clubs with speculation rife over the last few months of him moving from Holyhead to a Welsh Premier Club(s). An outstanding, young goal getter who was 2nd in the Cymru Alliance table last season, Marc has represented Wales and the regional squads; he is the ideal player to snap up the many chances that we create and will be a great partner and asset to Darren Thomas and the team in general. Lee and Ian are to be commended for bringing him to the club in the face of opposition from elsewhere,
In another bold move, Kevin Lloyd has returned to the club after his loan spell at Bangor City; he needs no introduction to our fans, as he played in our Premier Team and was top scorer when he went on loan last season. More commendations to the management in bringing him back and creating such an exciting strike force for the future.
I am sure that you will all join in welcoming these players to our club and wish them success during the coming months.
There are more signings in the pipeline which will be posted when fully registered, as will the re-signings of the key players from last season. Of course any non contract players won't be shown until after the registration date later this month for obvious reasons.
New Management
4th June 2009
Llangefni Town FC Press release 4th June 2009
The club has moved swiftly to replace the manager following this week's departure.
The club felt it was important for continuity and the future to appoint a management team from within the club; people who understand and appreciate the club ethos and its ‘aims and objectives' both on and off the pitch.
The appointment of Lee Dixon as First Team Manager and his choice of Ian Hughes as his assistant, is seen as a positive statement about the club's intentions and embraces all aspects from youth through to senior level plus the local community involvement.
Lee is a well respected local guy, with long associations with the club, both as a player and with his Community Coaching Skills company based at the club's Business Centre. He has a broad experience at playing level for Bangor and Llangefni in the Premier League plus spells at Glantraeth and Holyhead in the Cymru Alliance. He knows the local game well and is up to date with the playing scene and coaching requirements.
Ian is held in high regard as one of the best young coaches in North Wales, coming through the well respected Bodedern youth setup, via a University Sports Science background, he was instrumental in setting up and running our Academy as its Director. More recently has been appointed as Football Development Officer for Gwynedd and continues to work towards his succession of coaching qualifications.
As a management team the pairing, whilst young and relatively inexperienced at a management level, tick all the right boxes for the club, as we strive to achieve our licensing requirements and ‘on field' success, which will see us restored to Premier League status.
We are sure that the club, players and supporters will get behind them in what is to be a turbulent time for the Welsh Football pyramid over the coming seasons and we wish them all success for the future.
Quote from the incoming Manger
"Well, I can only say how excited I am in being given the opportunity in running a big club. When I first spoke to Brian Owen after Gus & Viv's departure it was too much of a good opportunity to turn down. It's a big club with fantastic facilities along with die hard supporters who work around the clock night and day!
I have just started a new job with Everton Football Club so timing is not great for myself but I gather it is for the Football club which is the most important thing!
My first appointment has been to bring Ian Hughes, the ex academy Anglesey director and now the new Gwynedd Football Development officer, on board as assistant coach. I am sure this will be a popular choice with the supporters, players and committee. We both hold relevant coaching badges and have a number of strong contacts in football, with different clubs, which will mean that we are looking to use this to our advantage. We are both very excited by the challenge ahead and we are two young coaches who are very keen and ambitious to start off on the managerial ladder. The club can be assured that Ian and myself have the club at heart and we will be looking to carry on the good work that Gus /Viv and staff have done!
I am sure that last season the pressure was on the players and the club to bounce straight back up. However, that was always going to be a difficult job due to the teams wanting to put one over on a ex Welsh Premier team. So this season will give us an opportunity to go about our jobs quietly and see if we can create a few upsets. So we will ensure its a smooth handover with no disruptions to the club and our priority is to keep the majority of the players and add quality where needed.
So Ian and myself look forward to working with the club and wish Gus & Viv all the best for the future."
Lee Dixon
The committee are pleased with the new setup and have set out the main objectives for the coming season:
1) Of paramount importance is our survival in the Cymru Alliance, which will mean a top 6 or possibly 8 finish. This is not going to be easy with some big names in there, Holyhead 2nd last year, Caernarfon coming down from the Premier, Buckley, Flint, Llandudno all with similar ambitions; but even with the reduced playing budget we are confident of survival with anything else being a big bonus.
2) Off the field it is our intention to work towards getting our Domestic Licence, whilst we do not expect to be in a promotion position next season, it is our ambition to get back into the top tier of Welsh Football. A lot of hard work and probably expensive, but that is our goal.
Breaking Management News
2nd June 2009

It is with regret that we announce the departure of our first team manager Gus Williams as explained in his note below.
I am sure that all at the club - management, coaches, players and supporters will wish him every success in his new challenge at Prestatyn Town FC.
'It is with sadness that I make the decision to leave Llangefni Town FC and pursue my involvement in Football with Prestatyn Town FC as their First Team Coach/ Assistant Manager within the Welsh Premier. Llangefni is a club where the support of the public and the Committee has been immense. In addition to the support of my partner who attended every game this season but also the management team which has been outstanding and a wrench to leave them behind. May I take this opportunity in thanking them all and wishing them the very best for the foreseeable future. It's a credit to Bryan Owen that the club has come this far and it is to Bryan who I thank for his unreserved support during my tenure at the club. Having met with Bryan he acknowledged my desire to move on and approved wholeheartedly for me to go. This season witnessed a new team of players of which was a pleasure to coach and will be sorely missed by myself in as much as everybody at the club.'
Details of the revised management structure will be posted shortly.
